Celebrating 35 Great Years!

Posted on: May 12, 2015

On Saturday, May 2nd, 2015, Dolphins Plus celebrated over 35 years of marine mammal education, research, and community outreach with approximately 2000 local guests from the Keys community. Guests experienced an afternoon of fun-filled family events, including dolphin meet and greets, where local Keys children enjoyed meeting members of our dolphin family with behaviors such as belly rubs and kisses. Kids marveled in rockin’ rides such as the: slide, dunk tank, rock wall, bounce house, mechanical surfboards, and the toddler zone! On this special day, Dolphins Plus invited local kids to learn more about marine animals and ocean conservation via our hands-on educational activities such as: a trash timeline, echolocation booth, make a sea turtle station, make a manatee station, dolphin ID activity, acoustics center, and much, much more. Local organizations including REEF, Jules Undersea Lodge, the Turtle Hospital, FWC, Wild Bird Center, Marine Lab, NOAA, FIU, and Coral Reef Restoration Foundation also provided educational opportunities and demonstrations. Children experienced face painting, sand castle building competitions, and the winners of the Dolphins Plus Essay Contest were announced! On this day, Dolphins Plus proudly gave back to the local Keys community and shared our passion for marine mammals and ocean conservation. Dolphins Plus extends a huge thank you to all who participated and to all who helped make this event possible.
