On March 6, 2015, three members of the Dolphins Plus Marine Mammal Responder (DPMMR) team proudly participated in efforts to rescue an entangled Atlantic bottlenose dolphin calf (Tursiops truncatus) near Fort Pierce, Florida. Experienced first responders and volunteers Gerhard Beserer, Becky Weeks, and Ethan Kleinschmidt participated in the rescue, disentanglement, and release of this critically compromised marine mammal. DPMMR joined this collaborative conservation effort with representatives from 11 institutions and organizations, including the Georgia Aquarium and Field Station, Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, NOAA/NMFS, Sea World, and more. Dolphins Plus encourages you to do your part to aide in conservation of marine mammals by removing all monofilament, plastic, and trash debris from your next ocean excursion. Read article here
